Travel today is easier and more exciting than ever. You can cruise the world on the most luxurious ship in your own suite, or on a freighter for a fraction of the cost. It used to be that travel was a fact finding mission. Firstly you would visit a travel agent, get a mountain of brochures, and return to the agent for an explanation of what information was in the brochure. Today we can throw a dart at the map of the world and go online to find that there is almost always a video clip of every remote corner of the globe. You can choose a trip to enjoy the sun, sea and sand, or relax and take time to enjoy the surroundings. You can bicycle ride through Tuscany or Provence by day and be welcomed at a charming country inn every night featuring the best cuisine the area has to offer. These trips are becoming increasingly popular as they offer a little of everything; sightseeing, exercise, multi destination trips, and of course the chance to sample gastronomy without too much guilt after bike riding all day. Alternatively you could spend your hard earned vacation days and cash scaling the face of ‘K2’ or winding your way up the Amazon once reserved only for the worlds most renowned adventurers. You may even choose to take steps along mans’ greatest ever engineering achievement, ‘The Great Wall of China’.
At the end of any day, whether you choose to travel to the end of the earth, or make a day trip, remember the indeniable words sung by Frank Sinatra, “It's very nice to go trav'ling. But it's oh so nice to come home”.
